10 Most Wicked and Horrible Places in the World

!±8± 10 Most Wicked and Horrible Places in the World

Halloween is over, but the wicked places in our world didn't disappear together with it. They are thrilling the lovers of adrenalin and scary stories, who are willing to see something, from which normal tourists hastily run away. So, here are 10 the most horrible places in the world, one is scarier than another.

1. Mutter Museum of Medical History in Philadelphia.

Mutter Museum of Medical History in Philadelphia - is the museum of pathologies, old medical equipment and biological exhibit items; the museum is situated in the oldest in North America medical school complex. The museum is most famous for its giant collection of skulls; here are also gathered all kinds of unique exhibit items, for example a woman's dead body which turned into the soap in the soil where she was buried. Here are also Siamese twins with conjoined livers, the skeleton of two-headed child and other creepy showpieces.

2. Truk Lagoon in Micronesia. Much of Japanese Navy forces are now lying at the bottom of shallow Truk Lagoon in Micronesia, southwest of Hawaii. Blue depths, explored by Jacques Cousteau in 1971 and thick-sown with wrecks of battleships and aircraft carriers, sunk in the year 1944, became open for divers. However, some of them are still afraid of crews, which had not left their battle positions. Ships and planes had struck for a long time into the coral reefs, but still, new and too curious tourists who pry where they shouldn't, become their victims.

3. Sonora Witchcraft Market in Mexico City, Mexico

Mexico witches sitting in tight stalls are promising the quick riddance from poverty and spousal infidelity, and martyred exotic iguanas, frogs and wild birds are hanged for sale in the cages on the walls of the tents. Sonora market is opened everyday to pilgrims from Mexico City and tourists from far beyond who come here for fortune predictions and promises of better life. This is the place where the local population buys "supernatural" stuff, ranging from potions made according to ancient Aztec recipes to Buddha statues. Hard-headed enthusiasts may even buy here some blood of rattlesnake or dried hummingbirds for taming the luck. However, one should remember that witchcraft in Mexico is not a joke: the National Association of Sorcerers was engaged in presidential election in order to turn it into the honest and free one, using magical spells.

4. Easter Island, Chili

One of the most mysterious places on earth is Easter Island, with huge, cut out stone figures of giants, ingrown in the soil under the weight of millenniums. Statues are staring in the skies, as if they were guilty of some mystical crimes. Only the stone giants know where have disappeared the people who installed them. There is no one on the Easter Island who knows the secret of making, moving and installing of these giant statues with the height of 21 meters and weight of 90 tons. Though, they were often moved more than 20 kilometers away from the open cast where the ancient sculptors worked. Nowadays, the life is barely lingering on the island where a mighty civilization once flourished, and no one knows where did the mysterious constructors come from and where did they disappear. Of course, except those who have read Thor Heyerdahl in childhood. For them, all these mysteries - about making and installing the statues are no longer a secret.

5. Manchac Swamps in Louisiana

Boats with tourists, floating through the swamps in the torchlight are surrounded by old cypresses and long threads of moss hanging down from the branches of cypresses. The howl, sounding from afar could be that of rou-ga-rou - the Cajun version of werewolf.

Manchac Swaps are also called "ghost swaps". There are situated near New-Orleans and are the place, Goths are dreaming about. It is said that the swamps were cursed by a captured voodoo queen, in the beginning of XX th century. As a result, three villages disappeared during the hurricane in the year 1915. The repose of this birds' cemetery is disturbed only by the dead bodies, which surface time to time - this is the heritage of hundred years old commercial activities. Besides that, the alligators, which are more numerous than dead bodies will not strain at eating fresh tourist meat.

6. Paris Catacombs, France

Bones and skulls are packed on both sides of the corridor like goods in the warehouse - lots of goods. The air here is dry and bears only a slight hint of decomposition. Here are also some letterings, in general dating from the French Revolution, which are flagging king and noblemen. After getting inside the catacombs under Paris, it becomes clear why Victor Hugo and Anne Rice have wrote their famous stories about exactly these catacombs. They stretch for about 187 kilometers under the whole city and only insignificant part of them is opened to public. It is said that the rest of them are patrolled by special legendary underground police, though, most likely they are patrolled by legions of corpses. Or vampires. Well, who cares! The mines existed here in Roman times, and when in the year 1785 the Paris cemeteries were overflowing, the tunnels came into their present state.

7. Winchester House, San Jose, California

"Magical" Winchester House - a titanic construction with many superstitions referring to it. A fortune-teller has told Sarah Winchester, the heiress of arms company, that the ghosts of those who were killed with Winchester rifles will chase her, unless she leaves Connecticut, moves to the West and builds such a house, which could not be finished during all her life. The construction has started in San Jose, in the year 1884 and didn't stop for 38 years, till Sarah died. Nowadays, the ghosts of her madness live in 160 rooms of the house: there are stairs going straight into the ceiling, doors that open right in the middle of the wall, spider motifs, chandeliers and hooks. Since the house was opened to public, there are ceaseless complaints about clapping doors, sound of footsteps in the night, moving lights; door handles which turn by themselves. Even if tourists do not believe in ghosts, the place shocks by its immensity.

8. Mary King's dead-end in Edinburgh

Several streets with dark past hidden under the medieval Old Town in Edinburgh. The place, where in the XVII-th century the plague victims were closed up and left to die, is famous for its poltergeists. Something unknown touches tourists' hands and feet. It is said, that this is the ghost of Annie, a young girl who was left there by her parents in the year 1645. A hundred years later, like in scary fairy-tales, a big new building was built on the place of King's Close. In the year 2003 the Close was opened for tourists, who were attracted by the stories about its supernatural spirits.

Visitors will be guided down the stone stairs to the dark, oppressive lanes.

Except Annie's room there is an exposition of medieval life and deaths from plague reconstructed. The main thing is - do not stop when you feel the icy breath of death.

9. Occult Abbey of Thelema in Sicily

Aleister Crowley - is perhaps one of most odious occultists in the world, and this stone farm house filled with dark pagan wall-paintings, once was the cosmopolis of satanic orgies. At least, it was considered to be such in 1920-s.

Crowley is known because of his fans, such as Marilyn Manson and the fact that he appeared on the cover of Beatles' album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. Crowley has founded the Abbey of Thelema, named after the utopia described in Rabelais' 'Gargantua', whose motto was "Do what you want." It became the commune of free love. Newcomers had to spend night in "Room of Nightmares" where they, high on heroin and marijuana stared at frescoes of earth, skies and hell. After a popular English dandy had died in the Abbey, the media raised a stink, making Mussolini close this dodgy commune. Notorious clandestine stage director Kenneth Anger had dug out this story and shot a movie there, which later has mysteriously disappeared. Now the Abbey is half-ruined and grassed over. However, there are few frescoes left inside, with the help of which Crowley intimidated his followers.

Tourists, apt to esotericism can wander there and thrill themselves.

10. Chernobyl in Ukraine

Tourists, coming to Ukraine, in the abandoned city of Pripyat, find themselves in the exclusion zone. Here, all the stuff is left in hurry in that horrible 1986, when Chernobyl NPP accident made thousands of people leave their homes forever. The apartments are opened wide, ivy climbs up the painted walls of kindergarten, toys are lying around scattered, and newspapers are left opened on kitchen tables. Swings are still wiggling by the dead wind, creaking. Now, when the radiation level is safe for the short-time visits, Chernobyl zone is opened for tourists. All excursions to Chernobyl are almost the same, because the movements about exclusion zone are strictly limited. As a rule, tourists start from Kiev via bus, and then go to Chernobyl NPP on foot, then tour it and watch the "Sarcophagus". One could wander about the streets of ghost-town of Pripyat and visit the parking of contaminated vehicles. It is also possible to meet local self-settlers, the residents of "restricted zone."

!±8± Important Foods to Take on Hiking Trips

When you start packing for a hiking trip you should always consider what food you should take with you. You will need energy on long hikes and if you happen to get lost its important to have foods that will keep you going for a long period of time. High protein and hydrating foods are most important. Let's look at a list of some important foods you should pack when preparing for a hiking trip.

1. Water-

Okay so water may not be a food, but it is the most important thing to pack when preparing to hike for any length of time. You should always take water with you if you are planning to hike over a mile you should take at least 2 quarts of water with you. You will want to drink about a cup of water ever 40 mins even if you do not feel thirsty.

2. Trail Mix-

Just like the name implies trail mix is a great food to take with you hiking. It is full of protein and dried foods. It is packed it energy. Trail mix has a lot of calories that you will need to burn while hiking. It is not a health food as many may think. One once of trail mix can pack 150 calories alone, but this is an easy snack to have packed away for your hiking trip.

3. Dried Fruit-

A create source of energy that is light weight and easy to carry with you. Do not go out and buy dried fruit that has extra sugar and preservatives added to them. You should dry your fruit yourself. Make sure you drink water with your fruit as you will become dehydrated without it.

4. Energy Bars-

Maybe the most popular food to take with you on a hike they offer lots of protein and calories in a small package. You may want to try a few before taking them with you as some do not taste that great. Some can also be packed with sugar and other unwanted stuff so check the back to make sure they are as natural as possible.

5 Easy Dinner Ideas to Cook on Your Hiking Stove

!±8± 5 Easy Dinner Ideas to Cook on Your Hiking Stove

So what do you cook on your hiking stove? Obviously you want lightweight foods that will last for as many days as you are hiking. There are many things you can do and here are a few ideas.

Couscous

Couscous is a good idea for your dinner on a hike as the ingredients all keep well, they are nutritious and filling. It doesn't use much gas as all you have to do is boil some water and then add the couscous and let it sit. We normally put some dried apricots, dried tomatoes, and sultanas in the couscous. Then we would add some spices - cumin, coriander, salt and pepper... Take these in small zip lock bags.

Rice Risotto

As per couscous rice risotto is easy, filling and tasty. If you want the easy version then you can get a packet from the supermarket with the rice and the flavorings and dried veggies. Otherwise, take your own rice, spices, salt and some freeze dried veggies.

Stir Fry

We normally take some pre cut veggies (carrots, capsicum, onion, zucchini) on our first day. Then our first dinner we have a stir fry and use the veggies, this means the extra weight is only for the first and second day and we don't have to worry about keeping fresh for longer than that. If you take them pre-cut this will reduce weight and rubbish. All you need for the stir fry is the veggies, oil, soy sauce, (sachet?), ginger, garlic (we take these anyway) and some spices that you already have with you. Cook these up with the veggies and serve over some rice.

Fried Rice

Fried rice can be made with freeze dried veggies or your own if you use them on the first or second day. Cook the rice, and then cook the veggies in some oil. Add some garlic and ginger and soy sauce. If you have taken some sweet chili add some of this too. Add the rice and fry for a minute or two.

Noodles

Noodles are another easy option for hiking food. Make sure you get noodles that are very compact otherwise it uses up valuable space. This is a good gas saver as all you have to do is boil the noodles and you can add the rest afterward. You can add flavorings that you brought - garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sun dried tomatoes. Or you can bring some sachets.

We always take a freeze dried meal or two with us as well as a back up but we prefer to cook most of our meals form scratch. These are basic ideas that can be played around with. You can add your own extras to make them tastier. But anything you eat on a hike always tastes way better than it will at home! For storage ideas for spices and sauces we find either the small plastic zip lock bags great or you can use empty film canisters. Both are small and easy to pack! Enjoy cooking on your hiking stove!

An Insider Guide to Cancun and the Riviera Maya, Mexico

!±8± An Insider Guide to Cancun and the Riviera Maya, Mexico

Living in Mexico is a scenic adventure, to do because of the variety of things, the beauty of the country and the friendliness of its people. I'm originally from Ohio, but spent much time living in Mexico, the study of nature and history of this beautiful place. Here are some ideas and suggestions I receive from there you can learn on your next trip to the help of the Yucatan Peninsula.

With the public transport system is infinitely more convenient than taking taxis everywhere. If you are looking for,for the most economical transportation to and from the airport by bus to downtown Playa del Carmen and Cancun. It 'easy and the bus stops are centrally located in both cities. You can choose more than one air-conditioned bus for a small fee to drive than the non-air conditioned bus. I have, which left at most. There are timetables for buses to travel locally or published all over the country. The best coaches there were when I was a plush tour buses for longer trips, called ADO. Really niceBuses cost more but worth it.

If you need to call in Mexico, buy a phone card and are of any mobile phone. They can be used to call internationally. The locals, many of whom are no phones in their homes, they use all the time. Can be purchased at Casas de Cambio (places where you can exchange your money into Mexican pesos). A note on the exchange of money, to make sure to look for the best rate of return, as they vary from placePlace.

Those who do not immerse the beauty of the underwater world of coral gardens and the landscape through the snorkel. To dive shops and ask what they offer trips for snorkeling, or ask your village at the reception when you can register for snorkeling at the hotel. Wear sunscreen during this day trip, do not expect a white shirt to protect you, because it is not. If you are not a sunscreen, you will be lobster back, believe me.

A word to avoid evenTourist (Montezuma's revenge, trout Tourism). These bacterial infections are very uncomfortable, often on the travelers. To avoid most of the rest of your vacation in Bath, I recommend not to eat raw fruits (unless it's already peeled), or drink, ice cream, which are not round, with a hole in it (purified water ice ). Food great resort 'is safe as far as I've seen. I have a couple before he was in Mexico and never get sick from eatingto drink or his food. Large resorts precautions against contaminated food and drink. But outside on the street, the bacteria floating in the food industry is offered Taco (and I like that, among other things), and where fruit is sold. If you buy fruit peel before eating. If it is not deductible, then forget. Drinking purified bottled water at all times. If you go full-day excursions to the heat, bring a pitcher liters of water, you need it.

Take only through qualified tour guidesreputable agencies (usually through the hotel or your travel agent found). Do not use a freelance tour guide, because I was told, when you live there, some information that make-up as they go along. Independent guide will meet you in places like the ruins of Coba, Chichen Itza and Tulum approach, for example. Go with a group of these places. I liked the Apple Tour, but there are many others that are good, too. Ask to see who is most recommended. Chichen Itza is a great placeworth seeing if you expect to see a show is selected. The pyramid called El Castillo, is spectacular. I was in it (very, incredibly claustrophobic if you decide to tackle the narrow staircase) and upper (steep stair leads up to a couple of small rooms at the top, where the nobility would perform the rituals, etc.) Take camera and a stop at the nearby hotel for lunch if you can. It 'was a show where dancers dressed in Mayan entertain us as ourGroup has eaten. It 'been a good break from the heat to visit this ancient city. Word to the wise would bring a family-size vat of sunscreen is not a bad idea. And as water as possible. Walking around the city all day to dry and bake when you're not careful.

Check the cenotes (lakes of brackish water in the jungle), reachable by bus or taxi to Playa del Carmen, Tulum corridor. I liked going to Cenote Azul cenote Dos Ojos or. Cenotes winNature, and while I visit, I saw a great variety of flora and fauna of Basilisk lizards to a great crested grebe. Cenotes are the entry points to the caves, which are only safe to go diving training of experts. Under the Yucatan peninsula is a vast network of underground caves to explore as more experienced divers. Not groped this dive alone, because it is dangerous. If you want to see what looks like an underground cave, you go near the parkXcaret, where to swim underwater caves to the public

Speaking of Xcaret is a must visit if you love nature. It 'full of educational activities and fun things to do for the whole family. Expect to spend a whole day. It is swimming with dolphins, horseback riding, discover an ancient Mayan village to see Maya dance, snorkel in a large lagoon, all built in the jungle. It is a privileged position, and even his small zoo, butterfly gardenand aviary. I know I have the most important artist of the park years ago. The restaurants are full of atmosphere and the food is good. Do not forget to see the Mayan musicians have their own exhibition flight to be conducted throughout the day. It begins on a pole, and "fly" down while playing their instruments, while the strings hanging by the ankles. You do not see anything like it from this region. Xcaret has a variety of natural history specimens near their large gift shop. This is a"Must" for all.

If you want a ride in a fun boat, Playa Linda to go (in the Hotel Zone of Cancun) and hop on a boat to Isla Mujeres. Tours Water has a large, luxury yachts, there goes a couple of times a day. On the way to the island, were entertained with drinks from the staff and get a splendid view of the coast of Cancun. Once in Isla Mujeres, you travel to places like Tortugranja (a herd of turtles where turtles breed in danger of extinction from small to large) was added,Hacienda Mundaca or (alleged former assets of ex-pirate who has built for his love interest, according to local legend). They offer snorkeling, too. It 'a beautiful day outside, and the mall is pretty good even on the island.

Another interesting place to visit Merida, capital of Quintana Roo (Cancun, where he is) is. It reminded me of Europe, with its beautiful, large buildings, sidewalk cafes and stately buildings. There you will find the U.S. Embassy, among others. If you replace a lost passport or talk with the embassy staff will have this is where you want to go. It 'a very international, it is worth the long bus ride from Cancun.

Downtown Cancun has some interesting places for shopping. There are authentic foods and crafts in the Square 2000, or see Chedraui (unless other general merchandise) (a department / grocery store) or Pelicano. I have not been to Las Vegas by the devastating hurricane there, so check if these places arestill running, if so, are definitely worthwhile. Take a bus or a taxi to these locations to experience "authentic" Mexican. Staying in the hotel zone is just fun, but not a piece of Mexican daily life. Try some of the major food stands where the locals go. I like the chicken cooked on a spit all over the world, called "Rojo Chicken" (chicken red) because of the spices used. It 'a dream, and incredibly cheap. When you see people selling tamales on the street, looking for areexcellent and really cheap. I could just eat my way through Mexico to live tamales (meat in a corn "cake") and empanadas (meat turnovers) alone. If you buy baked goods to grocery stores in Mexico in mind that use much less sugar than Americans are accustomed to using in their recipes. I like the concave shape of the bread and mussels. If you want candy, buy cakes sold under the brand name
"Baby" (yes, this is the name of it). This is a great bread and snacksFood manufacturers in Mexico.

Enjoy your stay in the beautiful Riviera Maya. Walk the beaches and admire the breathtaking turquoise waters, is truly a paradise. Enjoy the hospitality of the Mexican people friendly and helpful. Remember to have fun, but remember, it is a foreign country, obey their laws and respect differences of culture. If you go, you go on and on. I know I did. The more you drive, the more you know. Living in the Yucatan was aunforgettable experience, is to visit to make a trip memorable sight for themselves as possible. You will not be disappointed.

Safety Tips for the Desert

!±8± Safety Tips for the Desert

There is so much to see if you made a home in the desert, the beautiful natural vegetation of the desert overlooking the beautiful weather during the cold months, the desert has to all things. Something to keep in mind if you live in the desert, however, the heat can be a dangerous aspect. It 's always good to keep a few things in mind if you live in the desert.

It is above the water. Water is life for everyone, but it is moreimportant if you live in a desert like Arizona. I'm sure everyone has heard all day, drink eight glasses of water, but at times can mean as much or more strong, not quite. Studies show that each of us has different needs for water supply.
